Anyway this is a neat two step effect that can certainly be useful. Only downsides is that it is a little simplistic and the ads were quite intrusive.

The tutorial is easy to follow and the results are good, but the description is a bit misleading. You will not actually be learning how to create a realistic rock texture, but rather how to apply an already created texture to text.

Essentially the tutorial is how to mask out an image of rocks with text that you create. The end step may be a useful technique and is the tutorials saving grace in terms of usefulness.

I'm liking this, very clean results.
