The ipod tutorial
Just to clear a few things up first, when I say something about layer styles,
I mean to select the layer and press this button at the bottom (highlighted
red)
Ok first things first create a new document mine is 600*840 and make a nice
gradient background,
set you foreground colour to white
make a new layer above the background (Ctrl+shift+N) and using
the rounded rectangle tool (U) with these
settings:
make a box the size you want
the ipod to be.
Now apply these settings to that layer:

Make a new layer and using
the elipse selection tool (M) and holding shift to make
a perfect circle drag out the shape you want for the larger navigation
wheel and fill it with white using the paint bucket tool (G).
Now apply these styles to that layer:
Now we need to make a smaller
circle in the centre of this one, the same way as before, fill it with
white and use these settings:

You should now have this

For the smaller buttons
we do nearly the same as we have just done, create a small circle, fill with
white and use these settings
duplicate this layer 3 times (ctrl+J) and
place where they should be.
For the screen
use the rounded rectangle shape tool (U) and fill it with this
colour #B5B2A3, or something similiar.
Use these layer settings:
You should now have something
like this

For
the text on the buttons
I used the font ms sans serif at 16 pt, and the colour as
black with these layer settings:
Now to add the other buttons,
use the custom shape tool (U) for the arrows and apply
the same layer settings as the text we just did and bring the opacity
down to about 80%.
For the line screen
use the pencil tool (B) at about 2 pixels and colour #7f7f7f to
create a line across the screen.
In the same font as before and colour #7f7f7f make it say
iPod across at the top and in the centre,
for the battery indicator make a new layer, select a rectangle with the
marquee select tool (M) and go to edit>stroke and
give it a 2 pixel stroke with the same colour #7f7f7f.
Now with it still selected go to select>modify>contract and contract it
by about 3 pixels,
fill this with the same colour
It should now look like this:
(click for larger image)
for
the rest of the text same font and with a size of 24 pt and the same
colour #7f7f7f just write it where it should be.
For the arrows use the right custom shape (U) under arrows
on one line you will need to use the opposite colours and draw a dark bar
across the screen with light colour text.
And that concludes this tutorial hereis the finished image
