Treasure Chest
Start out with a new document, 300x299. On a new layer, create a rectangle and fill it with #838383.
Create a new layer, and with a rectangle, create the edge. Use a gradient of #A58556 and #836239.
Duplicate the layer.
Create two new layers and with the rectangle marquee tool, create two new rectangles, this time, going across. Fill them with the colors to match the sides.
I shortened the sides to give them an equal look. Also, add those sides to the middle as you see below.
On a new layer, with your elliptical marquee tool, create a circle with the color #D5A865.
Bevel and Emboss the circle with the following settings:
Now you have something like this.
I went ahead and resized the circle to what I wanted it to be.
Now, duplicate the circle, and add it to the four corners.
Duplicate the circle again and place in measured places similar to the below graphic.
Now we need to build a lock. Zoom in as close as you can without distorting your view. Create a rectangle in the center of the box. Fill it with #A18153 on a new layer. Add a drop shadow with the following settings.
Now you should have something similar to this.
Now we need to add the keyhole. Create a new layer. With your elliptical marquee tool, create a small circle in the middle of the square you just created.
With your polygon tool, with sides of 3, create a triangle underneath the circle. Add a little highlight to the side of the keyhole, to give it depth.
Link all the layers together, and change the perspective as it shows below.
Now we need to create the top of the box. On a new layer, create a rectangle and fill the color with #7A2020. Change the perspective so it looks similar to this.
Do the same for the lock. Add the drop shadow to the top, but reverse the angle.
On the red top layer, select the image, contract by 3 pixels, and move the selection back a couple of spaces. Cut the selection, and paste it into a new layer. Move that layer below the cut layer. Invert the color temporarily. We need to make this the back inside of the box.
Now, change the perspective of the image.
Merge all layers except the background and copy the whole image. Ctrl+Z back to the original where the layers aren't merged, and paste the new layer above it. Select the two white spaces, and fill them with #7A2020 in a new layer.
Invert the inside back of the box back to the red color.
Now, using the gradient tool, foreground - #7A2020, background - #4B0D0D, create the gradient on the two sides, and to the back of the box, apply the gradient to this as well.
Apply the stroke setting to the two corners of the inside box.
Now you have this.
Add some coins and finish the final touches.
